Don Juan’s Mexican Kitchen & Cantina in Olympia

I am a Tenino resident, this was the WORST food I have had...Thank you for reminding me that I can cook...I ordered fajitas 1/2 chicken 1/2 steak, I was given all steak, I also asked for chips and dip like usual when eating at the restaurant and was charged full price, and did not receive any salsa??? My better half ordered a Enchilada and the way it was prepared was like a tv dinner, a tiny amount of beans and rice, with a frozen Enchilada...WOW and this cost almost 50 dollars.. I will not return here and in the past I have directed people to this local restaurant, not again...

We had the verse and the mole and it was truly authentic Mexican food. ¡Excellente! The staff was friendly and attentive.

My burrito was extremely dry. No beans or rice on the side. Maybe because they were in the burrito, but for the price, there should have been something more. Didn't care for their salsa. Tried this place once when they first opened and thought I'd give them another chance. Won't be back.

Don Juan's is a very unique family owned restaurant where the Dad comes from one region of Mexico and the Mom comes from another. They serve dishes from each region and they have fusion dishes combining both regions.We visited with the mom on our last visit and she told us that everything is made fresh daily. The only cans in the restaurant are condensed milk for the flan.We've dined there eight times and it's been amazing every time. Every dish is wonderful so you can't go wrong no matter what you order.They are closed on Mondays but you have six other days to enjoy.

Loved this place! We were greeted by the owner and were given samples of the daily special, as well as their housemade sauces to sample while we perused the menu. We loved so many we had a hard time choosing what to get! Per the owner everything is made fresh from scratch, and this girl could taste it.We also ordered margaritas, and were thrilled to find that this restaurant only uses fresh juice, no mixers and they were absolutely divine! I highly recommend this hidden little gem of a restaurant.

Had guacamole and chips and a wonderful margarita. My son had the wet burrito. Very nice. The guac was to die for

Such great food! You have to try the guacamole! So yummy! Very different and so fresh. That's all I'm going to say! I recommend you give it a try when you go there. All of the food was great! I'm a no spicey person and the people I was with are spicy eating people. We were all able to find what we wanted on the menu. The staff was very friendly and did their job very well. I would highly recommend that you give this place a try.

Ordered my food at 615pm was told it would be ready at 730 740pm here it is 100 dollars later and 817pm and still sitting outside waiting for my food. I will not be back here.

We've been here several times and always enjoyed it. Great place with a great atmosphere and the owner is always nice to see working there on occasion.

Always wonderful! Excellent salsa, chips, guacamole, soups, salads, main courses and flan! Shrimp fajitas are fantastic.

Me and my boyfriend were looking for somewhere to eat. We were so close to don juans we decided to eat here. Didn’t expect the food, the service and the drinks to be so excellent. Shout out to the waiter that was serving us. I didn’t get his name but he was awesome.

Went to this restaurant after hearing about it from several people and I was not disappointed. We ordered four different meals they were all incredible. We couldn’t believe how clean the place was. Very kind and nice staff. Even their water was delicious. Their mugs kept the drinks cold. I noticed a lot of people were ordering the nachos. We are already planning out next visit. Definitely worth the drive.They no longer own the one in Olympia it just carries their name. Not the same

Food was fine. But the service was disappointing. Waitress was nice but didn't give good service. Never came around and refilled glasses or asked if we needed anything after food (and I needed hot sauce) when we asked a different waitress to refill our soda she said "no I'll get your waitress for you"

A little on the more expensive side but definitely the more authentic better Mexican restaurant around.

Stars for service... VERY overpriced, for what tasted like previously frozen food that we received. I ordered enchiladas and received approximately 3 rolled up tortillas soaked in a thick red sauce (tasted like marinara you'd eat with mozzarella sticks) smothered with cheese and chicken on the side? A soggy $15 dollar meal.. the only thing I could eat was the rice and beans. Chips were salty, salsa was gross.. hubby's tacos were dry and unseasoned, he received three small tacos ffor $12.50.. we like to stop by little holes in the walls to find hidden gem's when we drive thru towns, and unfortunately this isn't one of them.. we won't be back. But thanks for the friendly service!

The owner Juan was so kind and willing to play the Mariachi on Dads phone on the loud speaker as we celebrated Family Birthdays. There were options available for those who have gluten allergies. They are very knowledgeable about food allergies. They were very accommodating to the needs of the individuals in ouf rather large group. We appreciate the generosity in portion sizes as the food was delicious and affordable by all members of our party.

Seriously, what a great place to eat! The server was super friendly, the food was amazing, and when we were indecisive about a sauce for our burritos, he offered to do halfsies, which made for a gorgeous (and tasty) meal. Highly recommended!

It was good, got the street tacos with different meat in each. All three were overcooked and dry. I was hungry so I ate them, won't order again. Everyone else was happy with their dish.n

This is Mexican cuisine, not your typical American Mexican restaurant. The ingredients are fresh, nothing frozen or from a can. I had the poblano corn chowder and my husband had a braised pork dish. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection.

Great food and service! Clean inside and outside, nice outdoor space for summer. Would suggest to anyone looking for just better Mexican food than most places.

I discovered this restaurant 6 years ago after a bike ride from Yelm. I came back to taste again the fresh tacos, guacamole and awesome flan. Highly recommended

Best Mexican restaurant I've been to since moving to WA. Owned by a friendly and welcoming family with a charming atmosphere and delicious, authentic food. Love this place and place it very high on my list of local recommendations.

Being from Texas, my opinion of mexican food is very high. And Don Juan's was right on par with the tex-mex back home. Their fajitas were super moist and juicy and the chips and salsa before our meal was great. Would reccomend to anyone seeking so good mexican food.

Excellent as always. Tenino is now their only location. Apparently they had management issues on the west side and decided to walk away from that partnership. Too bad, but gotta keep reputation sound... So likely the best move. Family run, good service, great food, there just isnt a downside. Prices are just a tad higher than most mexican places, but the quality is much, much better... So well worth it!

Excellent food. Wide variety of choices. I suggest that you have fun sampling the various sauces before ordering. All the sauces are excellent. Our server was friendly, patient, and extremely helpful. I think what ever you order will be good.Give Don Juan's a try, I expect you will be happy you did. On a summer 2018 road trip Don Juan's was one of our favorite restaurants. Two others were Rustler's BBQ in Henryetta, OK and Allie's Vegan Pizzeria in Spokane, WA.

I heard someone in the parking lot, whom I beieve is conbected to the restaurant say ghey are closed on Sundays, open Monday-Saturday 12 noon to 8:00P.M. If I heard correctly.🤔
